IN WAR, IN LOVE (01)

IN WAR, IN LOVE (01)

I write down the voices in my head,
For they hurt and weigh me down like lead.
I write of the works they have wrought,
For I can't get it out of my thought.

I write of wars raged and battles fought,
Of broken bones, scars and blood clots.
I write a thousand words with my ink blushed,
Of mighty men with lives and prides crushed.

I write of blood and innocence stained
By axes and rods that oh so pained.
I write from memories and encounters,
By virtue of stories told by the Countess.

I write of hearts battered and bruised,
Of young lovers who dined and cruised.
I write of love found even in wars;
Of young babes cradled in calloused paws.
