Once Upon An Angel

He knew the moment his eyes met hers,
He knew that he never again wanted her out of his sight.
He knew that she was going to be the bane of his existence
He knew she was going to be his anchor, tethering him to his sanity—or what was left of it.

He knew it was too much to ask,
He was too damaged to be repaired but too selfish to believe it was impossible.
Her eyes gave him reason to believe the world wasn't a monochrome, or maybe it was, but not the kind he knew.
He knew black and white but her eyes gave a hint of auburn in such colorless world.
He couldn't part with it, he knew that too.

God—or the devil had gifted her to him in the form of a damsel in distress.
He would have ripped his heart out—not like there was anything left of it though—if he wasn't quick to save her that day.
The feel of her skin when he grabbed her away from danger was forever imprinted in his palm.
They'd both locked eyes and had become transfixed with bliss,
Only, bliss was for angels, not demons.

Even at that cost, knowing he was the devil's spawn,
He took her up on her offer to buy him a drink.
He knew better than to give in but he wasn't going to lose her, not when he had only just found her.

It was yet again, bliss watching her sip tea from a cup, her long lashes drawing over her cheek bones,
The sound of her laughter, music to his ears, he couldn't help but wonder what joy he would feel at the sound of her screams and the taste of her tears.
He was one twisted bastard, that he knew.  But he was a bastard who wasn't going to let her leave just like that.

Gaining her trust was the easy part, that was his game;
A handsome face and a beautiful body was never easy to resist.
Oh! And don't forget, the chivalry;
He was good at that, opening her doors every time, buying her flowers,
Taking her to beautiful places, making her believe again in love.
It was only then he had popped the question and without thought, she said 'yes'.

He had her where he wanted her, in his arms, next to him, feeding his demons and ruling his hell next to him.
