STRUGGLE FOR SURVIVAL

It started with a seed,
Lacking no need,
Germinated, fortunate not to dry.
The shoot sprouts upwards, aiming for the sky.

Then came, and stood beside it, the Mantis,
Same color and looks as it is.
Oblivious to his malicious intent,
The plant sighed in content,
"What fun it is to be alive,
Basking under the sun with no strive."

The Mantis attacked the plant,
Chewed it up and wiped his mouth.
Oh! What a poor defenseless plant!

The Lizard saw it all,
Looking from a crack in the wall.
He got furious and went down,
Seeking revenge for the poor soul down.

Mantis hid amongst the plants afraid,
But got no cover where he laid.
You don't get protected,
By those you destroyed and left dejected.

"Karma is always in the corner, waiting when you slip"
Lizard also fed on the Mantis, no chance at a peaceful sleep.
Two wrongs do not make a right.
We care not but continue the fight.

And so on and on it goes.
Plants, mantis, lizards, snakes, birds, man...even those not foes.
Yeah, it's a struggle for survival,
But humanity needs revival.

We go on trampling on one another,
Forgetting lessons from our mother.
Feeding off others vulnerability, rejoicing in their fall.
Not caring, not caring at all.
