WHAT DO YOU DO WITH YOUR WORDS?

WHAT DO YOU DO WITH YOUR WORDS?

I try each and every day,

I try to watch what I say.

I put myself in others' shoes,

I try, with my words, not to make them bruise.

For I'm aware of the power of words;

I know what could come afterwards.

Once said, they can't be taken back;

Can cause wounds that heal but leave a scar.

Words can be daggers;

Their force can make one stagger

When they're driven into one's heart,

And make one's world seem to fall apart.

They can kill self worth

And make one feel like a mutt;

With all esteem shredded,

One is morphed into a living dead.

Words are capable

Of bringing down a castle

To ruins and shambles,

And make orderlies scramble.

They can weaken one's spirit

And confine one within limits.

Can make one feel useless and cheap,

And can break relationships.

In the same sense,

Words can boost confidence,

Awaken hope, repair

And bring one back from despair.

Words can be a soothing balm.

Applied to heal and calm,

They can be said to cure

And to get rid of torture.

Words strengthen bonds and ties;

Create for one, more allies.

Words can build a world of sheds,

With peace reigning and nothing to dread.

What do you do with your words?

Do you build or destroy?

Do you kill or lift spirits?

You bring peace or start conflicts?

What do you do with your words?

Do you bring down or raise people?

Do you unite or separate?

You bring smiles or sadness?

Do you utter positives or negatives?

Do you create dents

Or smoothen relationships?

Do your words give reasons to live or die?

What do you do with your words?

Bring hope or kill what hope is left?

Make people feel less of themselves

Or boost their self esteem?

Do your words hurt or soothe?

Do they wound or heal?

Your words define you,

For out of the abundance of the heart speaks the mouth.

What words do you speak?

Of goodness? Of evil?

What do you do with your words?

What do your words say of you?
